Change request

Short answer

What is Change request? A request you write in plain words, from Ask, for Kinnow to change the product for your business. It is sized up, scheduled and closed with your verdict.

In plain words

Most software makes you wait for the next release or hire a consultant. In Kinnow, a change request is how you ask the Kinnow team for something your business needs, in your own words. This is Kinnow's own term; in IT teams, "change request" can also mean formal permission to alter a system.

A worked example

Example

The owner of a distribution business types into Ask: "Add the dealer's territory to every sales order print."

StepWhat happens
1Kinnow writes up the scope in plain words for you to read.
2If Kinnow already does it, a person checks and tells you so.
3If not, the work is priced and given a date before it starts.
4When it is done, you give your verdict: fixed, still broken or not said yet.

Silence is never shown as fixed. Your own note is kept word for word.

Why it matters

  • Cost. You know the price before work starts, and not after.
  • Deadline. There is a date, so a wish does not sit in a queue.
  • Risk. The request is closed with your verdict, not with the vendor's opinion.

Bring one thing your current software cannot do, and ask us how it would be requested.

In Kinnow

How Kinnow handles it

You raise a change request from Ask, in the Change Request channel. Only people with the right role, such as administrators and managers, can raise one. Details of how it works are on the Change requests page, and settings sit in Admin.

A change request is for something Kinnow does not do yet or does differently from what you need. If you only want to change who approves a document, the approval rules are the place for that.
