ERP for tech / saas. Subscriptions, SLAs and revenue recognition on the same ledger.
A product company ships or it does not. Kinnow runs the roadmap, the customer contract, the support desk and the ledger as one record, so a release, a renewal and a deferred-revenue balance can be traced to each other.
Industry pack readyHow does Kinnow help a software product company? The ready-made setup for your industry (we call it an industry pack) is called Tech Product Development. It runs the backlog, sprints and releases, and asks for test evidence before a release ships. Customer agreements become service contracts with renewal alerts, tickets follow the service promise you gave the customer (SLA) and can be passed to the backlog, and revenue is recognised from the contract. Nothing is billed, filed or paid without a person.
Your company, in one paragraph.
You build once and sell many times. Money comes from customer agreements, annual or monthly, and from services around them. Costs are engineers and the cloud bill. Deferred revenue is reconciled by hand between the billing tool and the books, a support breach surfaces in an escalation instead of a dashboard, and the board pack takes a week of exports from five systems.
Three things keep the founder awake: a renewal that lapsed without anyone deciding it, work started and never released, and a customer who raised the same issue four times before anyone saw the pattern.
How your month runs on Kinnow
The ready-made setup gives you three step-by-step routines that matter here: Trial to renewal, Idea to release and Campaign to trial.
| Step | Who | What Kinnow does | Where a person approves |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1. Campaign to trial | Growth lead | A campaign needs a named audience and is approved before it goes live; sign-ups are contacted within 48 hours. Campaigns, lead sources and the funnel by stage are reported. | Campaigns over ₹2,50,000 need approval. |
| 2. Trial to customer agreement | Sales lead | The pipeline takes a trial through activation, plan quoted, negotiation and won. A won deal becomes a service contract with value, billing cycle and end date. | Large deals (over ₹30,00,000) raise a warning. |
| 3. Invoice and collect | Finance | Invoices are raised in Sales on the cycle you choose. The customer sees and can dispute them in the customer portal. A UPI mandate or payment link can collect. | Credit limits over ₹10,00,000 need approval. |
| 4. Plan and build | Product owner | Ideas enter the backlog as epics, stories and tasks with estimates and a requirement reference, are committed to a sprint and a release, and tracked on a board. | A build over ₹30,00,000 needs the product owner. |
| 5. Test and ship | Engineering lead | A fix cannot be marked resolved without a test report. A release can be cut over a known gap only with a sign-off, with a named person accountable. | Release sign-off by the role you name. |
| 6. Support | Support lead | Each ticket follows an SLA plan with times for responding and resolving; one outside a plan is blocked. A ticket can be passed to the backlog and waits on hold until the fix lands. | The customer confirms before closure. |
| 7. Renew | Customer success | Renewal alerts go out at 60, 30 and 7 days before a contract ends. A churn score flags accounts at critical risk. | A senior person approves each renewal. |
| 8. Recognise revenue | Controller | A contract is split into performance obligations, a schedule of when revenue is earned is built, and a monthly run posts the recognition journal and the deferred balance. | A manager activates each contract. |
| 9. Close and file | Accounts head | Twelve month-end checks, seven of which must pass. GST and TDS returns are drafted for review and your team uploads them. | People close the books and approve the returns. |
Bring one release and one renewal; we will trace each from the backlog and the contract to the ledger.
What "subscription" means in Kinnow
The page title says subscriptions, so here is exactly what that covers.
A customer agreement is a service contract: value, billing cycle (annual, quarterly or monthly), start and end dates and a renewal alert. Your team raises the invoices through Sales, and the revenue schedule recognises the contract ratably or by milestone.
Built
Service contracts with renewal alerts, invoices on any cycle, customer portal, payment links, UPI AutoPay and NACH mandates, revenue contracts with performance obligations and a deferred balance.
Not built
A plan catalogue, usage metering, automatic recurring invoice runs, and MRR, ARR or cohort churn dashboards. Do not buy Kinnow expecting a billing engine; expect a ledger that knows your contracts.

Seventeen processes come switched on, with who signs off, in order, for five things: builds, campaign budgets, journals, credit limits and release sign-off. Eleven ready-made Ask Kinnow questions and nine reports come with it, among them the project register, milestone status, ticket register, campaign register, funnel by stage, lead source performance and requirement traceability.
Agents for a software product company
SLA Alert
Flags a ticket that is about to miss its response or resolution time.
Churn Sentinel
Scores active customers nightly on a health score and flags the ones at critical risk.
Contract Renewal Watch
Checks contracts nearing their end date so a renewal conversation is scheduled before one lapses.
Project Risk
Scores how far each project is slipping and how fast its billing is being used up, from its milestones.
Campaign Strategist
Designed to draft a campaign brief from your goal and your own data, such as gaps in your sales pipeline, customers who have gone quiet and the time of year.
Sell + AccountCollections
Drafts overdue reminders and steps them up according to how many days a payment is actually late. A person approves each reminder before it goes out.
AccountAI Invoice Extractor
Reads the text of a supplier invoice and fills in the bill for you, checking that the amounts add up before anything is saved.
KnowAnomaly Detector
Checks nine business figures for unusual movements whenever an administrator or your scheduler starts a scan, and lists them in the Anomaly Feed, most serious first.
A weekly Executive Digest summarises the business for the founder. Every agent is validated with each client before it touches their books, and every output waits for a person.
Ask us which two agents would pay back first in a company your size.
Statutory calendar for a product company
Alerts go out 15, 7 and 1 day before each filing. GST is prepared and exported for upload; Kinnow does not file on the portal. Dates change by notification, so your finance lead checks the notified date.

|---|---|---|
| GSTR-1 | 11th of the next month; 13th for quarterly filers | File built from your sales book |
| GSTR-2B reconciliation, then GSTR-3B | 3B on the 20th | Vendor bills matched against the portal download, then a draft return and a file to upload |
| TDS deposit | 7th of the next month; 30 April for March | Challan drafts by month and section from your deduction entries |
| TDS returns | 31 July, 31 October, 31 January, 31 May | Quarterly return drafts by form; Kinnow does not file them |
| Payroll | Monthly | PF, ESI, professional tax and salary TDS calculated in a payroll run that a second person approves; PF, ESI and PT return figures prepared from the payslips with gaps listed, not filed |
| E-invoice | On each invoice where your turnover requires it | The e-invoice file, and the reason when the portal rejects one |

Questions
Can Kinnow run our subscription billing?
Not as a billing engine. A customer agreement is a service contract with a billing cycle, end date and renewal alerts, invoices are raised through Sales, and payment links and mandates can collect. Plans, metering and MRR dashboards are not built.
Can it recognise subscription revenue?
Yes. A revenue contract is split into performance obligations, a schedule of when revenue is earned is built, and a monthly run posts the recognition journal and the deferred balance. A manager activates each contract.
Are Razorpay and Stripe supported?
Both are payment providers in the payment gateway application, with payment links, UPI AutoPay and NACH eMandate. Confirm your account set-up with us at the demo.
Can it replace our issue tracker?
For basic use. Epics, stories, sprints, releases and components are there, with test evidence required before a fix is resolved. Source code and CI/CD stay in your DevOps stack.
How are SLA breaches handled?
Each ticket sits on an SLA plan with times for responding and resolving. The industry setup blocks a ticket outside a plan, and an alert flags tickets close to missing their time.
How long does set-up take?
About two weeks to first results for one company: masters, contracts and opening balances in the first week, agents switched on and a first close in the second.
