ERP for retail & pos. Counter, cash drawer and back office on one product.
Every sale, every drawer and every rupee of the day's takings on one set of books, checked before the shop shuts.
Industry pack readyHow does Kinnow help a retailer? A counter sale takes stock off the shelf and posts the takings to the books by itself. The drawer is counted by a person and the difference is recorded, not hidden. Drawer Watch then looks for the till or the cashier that is short again and again. Nothing is filed, paid or posted without a person.
Your business in one paragraph
A shop earns its money in small pieces: a few hundred bills a day across cash, card, UPI and wallets, each store with its own drawer, its own discounts and its own shelf. The books, the stock register and the bank statement are usually written up later by someone who was not at the counter, and the gap between the counter and the books is where shrinkage and arguments live. Three things keep a retail owner awake.
The drawer that is short, and nobody knows when
A shortage found at the end of the week cannot be traced to a shift. By then the cashier has changed and the receipts are in a bag.
Discounts with no trail
Each store gives its own discounts. Margin leaks at the counter and shows up only as a lower month.
A shelf the books cannot see
One store stocks out while another sits on the same item. Without store-level stock, the reorder is a guess.
If one of these is your month, we can show the same three problems on a store like yours.
How your month runs on Kinnow
The month is a loop of small days. These are the steps, with the application that does each and the point where a person signs.
| # | Step | Who | Application | Where a person signs |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Register each counter against a store and its warehouse | Store manager | Sell (till) | Counter code is fixed once set |
| 2 | Open the drawer; one open shift per counter | Cashier | Sell (till) | Opening is recorded with the cashier |
| 3 | Ring up the basket. Kinnow prices each line, works out tax on the discounted amount and rounds cash to the rupee; the sale is refused if the payments (tenders) do not add up to the bill | Cashier | Sell (till) | Sale above 2,00,000 waits for approval |
| 4 | Stock comes off the counter's warehouse; the takings post to the ledger by tender | Automatic | Stock & Ship, Account | None; every posting is traceable to the sale |
| 5 | Void a wrong sale before the count, or refund after it; both reverse stock and ledger | Cashier, then manager | Sell (till) | Manager above the limit; approver recorded |
| 6 | Count the drawer. The expected cash is worked out from the shift's own sales; the person types the count | Cashier | Sell (till) | The shortage or excess is posted when the shift closes; a manager signs it off |
| 7 | Tie the day: takings against cash counted and against the card and UPI totals typed in; open drawers named | Store manager, accounts executive | Sell, Account | The tie-out only prepares; a person signs off the day |
| 8 | Replenish: forecasts and slow movers drive reorders and inter-branch transfers | Procurement officer | Buy, Stock & Ship | Purchase orders above the limit need approval |
| 9 | Month-end close, returns and payroll for store staff | Finance head, CA | Account, Comply, People | Journals above 5,00,000 need approval |
What the industry setup gives you
The ready-made setup for your industry (we call it an industry pack) is in the app today. It switches on 7 limits, 4 sign-off orders (who signs off, in order), 9 reports, 11 ready-made Ask Kinnow questions, 9 agents and 21 step-by-step routines, each with an owner for every step, such as counter to day close. The figures below are starting values; you change them to what a reviewer in your business wants to see.
| Limit or rule | What happens | Why it is there |
|---|---|---|
| Counter invoice above 2,00,000 | Needs approval | Either a genuine bulk order or a keying error |
| Sales order above 2,00,000 | Needs approval | A bulk deal, not a walk-in |
| Campaign budget above 1,00,000 | Needs approval | D2C spend is the most elastic cost in retail |
| Campaign with no audience | Blocked | A campaign with no audience has no consent behind it |
| Manual journal above 5,00,000 | Needs approval | Moves the books without a source document |
| Credit limit above 10,00,000 | Warning | Granting credit is a decision, not data entry |
| Corporate or bulk lead above 10,00,000 | Warning | Deserves a manager's eye |
The routines named in the setup include Counter to day close, Till to banked, Price change to shelf, Replenishing the shelf, Customer return to credit, Invoice correction by credit note and Stock count to write-off, beside month-end close, payroll and access requests.
Processes, built in
A full set of best-practice processes for your industry come switched on: who owns each step, which steps Kinnow enforces, and a clock on every hand-off between departments. Print any of them as an SOP.

Agents for Retail & POS
Drawer Watch
Looks across shifts, not at one day. It tells apart a till that is short in one direction every time, a cashier who is short across different tills, and a till that is never out by a single rupee, which is more often a drawer balanced to the screen than one counted.
Stock Forecaster
Forecasts demand for the next 30, 60 and 90 days for each item and warehouse, with a suggested safety stock and reorder point. It never acts on its own.
StockSlow-mover Detector
Finds stock that has not moved for a set number of days and ranks it by the money tied up in it, so you can review it.
BuyReorder Planner
Recommends how much to reorder and when. It skips an item that already has a draft reorder open, and it never raises a PO by itself.
ReachReactivation / Winback
Finds buyers who have gone quiet, using your ledger, and drafts a message to win them back for a person to send.
Cash flow forecast
Looks 30, 60 and 90 days ahead from receivables, payables due and collection history.
Each agent is validated with each client before it touches their books, and every output waits for a person. Also in the setup: Day-sheet tie-out and a cash-limit alert for a drawer holding more than your limit; both prepare and post nothing.
Statutory and compliance calendar for a retailer (India)
Kinnow prepares the working; a person confirms and files. Due dates are not shown because the statutory dates are set by the department and change; Comply carries your calendar.
| Obligation | What Kinnow prepares | Who confirms |
|---|---|---|
| GST returns (GSTR-1, GSTR-3B) | Drafts from the sales invoices and purchase bills in your books, as a file for portal upload. Kinnow does not file on the portal | Accounts executive, then CA |
| Input credit against GSTR-2B | Purchase bills matched with what suppliers reported. A GSTR-1 or GSTR-3B cannot be marked filed until the period's reconciliation is complete | Accounts executive |
| E-invoice and e-Way bill | Generated from the approved invoice and its dispatch, where they apply to your business | Accounts executive |
| TDS and TCS challans and returns | Draft challans and return entries by section. Due dates and rates are confirmed by your CA | CA |
| Payroll deductions | Payroll computes PF, ESI, professional tax and TDS on salary | HR head |

Questions
Does the counter keep working if the internet drops?
No. The counter needs a connection to Kinnow. What the till does guard against is a repeat: each sale carries a reference from the counter, so if the same sale is sent again after a dropped connection it is recorded once, not twice. There is no offline mode.
Does a POS sale update stock and the ledger automatically?
Yes. When a sale is completed, stock is taken off the counter's warehouse and the takings are posted to the ledger, each tender in its own clearing account, with the tax in Tax Payable. A void or refund reverses both. If a line is sold with no stock on hand in that warehouse, the sale stands and that line is skipped for stock, so a count or a correction fixes the shelf.
Can head office control discounts?
Partly. The industry setup asks for approval on a sale, order or invoice above 2,00,000, and every discount is listed on the day sheet with the till and cashier. Pricing rules (volume brackets, promo codes, order-value tiers, validity windows) apply on quotations and sales orders; the counter itself takes the price and discount the cashier enters.
What happens when the drawer is short?
The shift closes anyway and the shortage is recorded against the till and cashier, and posted to Cash Shortage. Nobody can balance a drawer to the system by holding the shift open. A person signs off the shortage, and Drawer Watch looks for a pattern across shifts.
Who can void or refund a sale?
A void is possible only while that shift is still open; after the count the answer is a refund, paid out of the shift open now. Above the limit your company sets, a manager has to do it, and the approver is recorded. If no limit is set, every void and refund needs a manager.
How long to set up a store?
About two weeks to first results for one company. Several stores go live one at a time, alongside your current software until the month-end numbers tie.
Does it work on a phone?
It works in the phone browser. There is no separate mobile app.
