Short answer

What does Safety Compliance replace? The work of a safety officer: keep track of serious site-safety findings. Built to total the serious site-safety findings not yet fixed, with their estimated penalty. The estimate and the fixed marker are set up with you.

Shows why

It shows its reasons and how sure it is on every draft. When it is not very sure, it only brings the item to your notice.

Waits for you

Nothing is filed, paid or posted until a person says so.

Gets reviewed

Every approval and correction is recorded, so you can see how well it does on your own books.

A day with this agent

An EPC contractor with four live sites. The safety officer wants unfixed serious findings in front of the project head before an inspection does it. This is how the agent is built to work. The estimated penalty and the fixed marker on each finding are set up with you.

  1. Findings are recorded. On the Safety screen of a project, incidents carry a severity, a status, a root cause and, where they are reportable, an authority reference. The estimated penalty and the fixed marker are added when the agent is set up with you.
  2. Each morning Kinnow reviews open projects. It is set to run at 7 am in your time zone, over projects that are open, in snagging, handed over or in the defects period. Projects with no findings are skipped.
  3. It totals the serious ones not yet fixed. It adds up the estimated penalty on findings rated high or critical that are not yet remediated, and compares that with the project's total penalty at risk.
  4. It tells you in words. The number of unfixed serious findings, the penalty exposure, and each finding listed. With none, it says "no unremediated high-severity findings".
  5. The safety officer acts. Fix, assign or escalate. Nothing is filed or sent on the agent's say-so.
  6. The next morning reflects the work. Findings marked as fixed drop out of the total.

See which findings would be flagged before your next inspection.

What a person decides

Nothing is filed, paid or posted without a person. A safety finding is acted on by people on site.

  • What counts as high. The severity a person records on each finding.
  • What to fix first. The safety officer and project head decide.
  • Penalty estimates. You or your safety adviser supply them. The agent adds them up; it does not set them.
  • What it never does. It does not file anything with an authority or close a finding.

Ask Kinnow about this

Questions a project head would type. Each answer shows its source.

  • "Which incidents are still open on this project?" Shows the incidents, severity and status.
  • "Which incidents have an authority reference recorded?" Shows the incidents and their references.
  • "How many toolbox talks were held last month?" Shows the talks and who attended.

Bring one site's incident register and we will show how the totals would be worked out.

Questions

What does the Safety Compliance agent do?

Built to total the serious site-safety findings not yet fixed, with their estimated penalty. The estimate and the fixed marker are set up with you.

Does Safety Compliance act on its own?

No. It points out what needs action, and a person decides and acts. Nothing is filed or sent until a person approves.

What does it need from me?

The agent works from a severity, an estimated penalty and a marker for whether each finding has been fixed. The incident register records severity today; the estimated penalty and the fixed marker are agreed with you when the agent is set up.

Does it read inspection reports?

Not yet. It works from findings recorded in Kinnow.

Does Safety Compliance get better with use?

Kinnow records each approval, correction and rejection against the confidence the agent stated, so you can see whether "sure" really means sure on your own findings. That is a measurement for you to read. The agent does not rewrite its own behaviour from it.

How is it paid for?

It is part of your agent pack, and there is no charge per user.
