Slow-mover Detector agent
Finds stock that has not moved for a set number of days and ranks it by the money tied up in it, so you can review it.
Validated with each clientWhat does Slow-mover Detector replace? The work of a store / warehouse supervisor: find slow-moving and dead stock. Finds stock that has not moved for a set number of days and ranks it by the money tied up in it, so you can review it.
Shows why
It shows its reasons and how sure it is on every draft. When it is not very sure, it only brings the item to your notice.
Waits for you
Nothing is filed, paid or posted until a person says so.
Gets reviewed
Every approval and correction is recorded, so you can see how well it does on your own books.
A week with this agent
Take a trader with two godowns and a few thousand stock cards, some of which have not moved for months.
- Monday, 6 am, it scans. Kinnow goes through every active stock card and looks for stock with no movement for the number of days you have set. The default is 60 days. You can change it under Stock rules, and set a different figure for a warehouse.
- It flags what has gone idle. A card that has just crossed the line is flagged as dead stock, once. Stock already marked as dead from your old records is picked up too.
- It ranks by money tied up. The weekly scan is plain arithmetic on your stock records. It counts the cards, adds up their cost, and lists the top 15 by value, so the biggest sums sit at the top.
- The stores supervisor reviews. The Dead stock panel on the Inventory home shows the total value sitting on the shelf. She opens the cards that matter.
- She asks for a suggestion on those. For the items she picks, up to 50 at a time, Kinnow suggests one of four things: move to another warehouse, sell at a discount, return to the supplier, or write off. Each comes with a priority (high, medium, low) and a reason.
- The suggestion waits on the card. It appears as a Suggested action on the stock card, marked as a suggestion only. The owner or supervisor decides, and does the transfer, discount, return or write-off in the usual way.
See the stock you have stopped selling. Send us your stock list with last-movement dates.
What it reads and what it hands back
| What it reads | What it hands back | Where it lands |
|---|---|---|
| Stock cards: item, warehouse, quantity, cost, last movement | A ranked list of idle stock with the total value tied up | Dead stock panel on the Inventory home |
| Your dead-stock setting, in days (tenant-wide or per warehouse) | Cards newly flagged as dead stock | The flag on the stock card |
| The cards you choose for review (up to 50) | Suggested action, priority and reason for each | Suggested action on the stock card |
What a person decides
- The cut-off. How many days without movement makes stock "dead" is your choice, between 1 and 3,650 days, with per-warehouse overrides.
- What to do with each item. The suggestion is advice. It never transfers, discounts, returns or writes off stock.
- Which items to ask about. The weekly scan is cheap and automatic; the deeper suggestion is something you ask for on the items worth the effort.
- The approval rule. Nothing is filed, paid or posted without a person.
Ask Kinnow about this
Ask in plain English. Before it answers, Kinnow shows where the answer will come from and what it will cost, and it uses only what the person asking is allowed to see.
| You could ask | What the answer shows |
|---|---|
| How much money is sitting in dead stock right now? | The dead-stock value from your stock cards, with the warehouses behind it |
| Which ten items have not moved in six months, by value? | Items ranked by cost value with days since last movement |
| What did Kinnow suggest for the slow items in the Pune godown? | The suggested action, priority and reason stored on each card |
| How much would we recover if we returned everything the supplier will take back? | The cards marked return to supplier, with their cost value |
Bring your slowest-moving list. We will rank it by cash tied up, on your numbers.
Works with
Part of Stock & Ship. These sit next to it:
- Stock Forecaster shows what you will need; this agent shows what you are not using.
- FEFO/FIFO selector issues the oldest or soonest-to-expire lot first, so stock does not go stale.
- Reorder Planner drafts a reorder when stock falls below its safety level.
FEFO/FIFO selector
A rule built into the pick list: it uses the lot that expires first (FEFO) or the one that came in first (FIFO), as you choose when the list is made, and checks again when the pick is confirmed.
StockStock Forecaster
Forecasts demand for the next 30, 60 and 90 days for each item and warehouse, with a suggested safety stock and reorder point. It never acts on its own.
Questions
What does the Slow-mover Detector agent do?
Finds stock that has not moved for a set number of days and ranks it by the money tied up in it, so you can review it.
Does Slow-mover Detector act on its own?
No. It flags the stock and ranks it for your review. A person decides what to do about it.
Does Slow-mover Detector learn?
Kinnow keeps every approval and rejection, along with how sure the agent said it was, so you can see how it does on your own books. We do not describe it as changing its own behaviour; corrections are kept so they can be reviewed with you.
How is it paid for?
It is part of your agent pack, and there is no charge per user.
How does Slow-mover Detector decide that stock is dead?
It looks for stock cards with no movement for a number of days that you set, 60 by default. You can change the figure under Stock rules, and give a particular warehouse a different one.
Will it write off or discount stock for me?
No. For items you choose it suggests one of four actions with a priority and a reason: move, discount, return to supplier or write off. It moves, discounts, returns and writes off nothing; you do that.
