UPI QR on invoice
What is a UPI QR code on an invoice? A QR code printed on a tax invoice. The customer scans it with any UPI app and pays the exact amount at once, and the payment is matched to the invoice automatically.
In plain words
Instead of typing your bank details, the customer scans a code on the invoice with any UPI app and the amount and reference are already filled in. Fewer typing errors, and you can tell which invoice a payment was for.
Example
You raise an invoice for ₹1,18,000 (₹1,00,000 plus ₹18,000 GST). The QR carries that exact amount and the invoice reference. The customer scans it with a bank app and pays. Banks and UPI apps set per-transaction limits, so a large invoice may still need NEFT or RTGS; check with your bank. The numbers are made up. If the invoice is also an e-invoice, remember the QR signed by the invoice registration portal is a different code and does not take payment.
Why it matters
- Cost. Less time spent working out which invoice a lump of money belongs to.
- Speed. The customer can pay the moment they read the invoice.
- Risk. A wrong reference or amount is the usual reason receipts do not match.
How Kinnow handles it
In Sell, a rupee invoice can carry a payment link and a UPI QR, once your UPI address is set up in payment settings. Kinnow builds the QR from the invoice amount and reference. Overdue invoices go to the Collections agent, which drafts reminders for a person to approve.
The limit: UPI settles only in rupees, so a foreign-currency invoice has no UPI QR. Rates, limits and due dates change; check the current ones and confirm the details with your CA or adviser.

Questions
Does my customer need a Kinnow account to pay?
No. Any UPI app can scan the code.
What if the customer pays by NEFT instead?
Bank reconciliation matches by amount and date, and by a cheque or UTR number found in both the bank line and the ledger entry. Anything it cannot match goes to a person.
Can I use it on foreign-currency invoices?
No. UPI works only in rupees, so the QR appears only on rupee invoices.
