Run an accelerator alongside your business

Programmes, cohorts, startup progress, mentor matching and funder reports for incubators and corporate venture teams.

Live in part
Short answer

What does Incubate (accelerator portfolio) do? Incubators and CSR or innovation teams get funder-ready reporting without a separate tool.

How it works

Incubate handles programmes, cohorts and portfolio startups, with risk levels, milestones and regular progress snapshots. Agents match mentors to each startup's needs, watch portfolio risk, draft funder reports and write cohort updates. When an application is accepted, a person confirms admitting the startup. The same application also holds basic product development work: issues, releases and sprints.

The detail that makes it real

Programme tracks and sectors use the incubator's own terms, set by its ready-made industry setup (the industry pack), not a fixed list.

Step by step

Here is a typical cycle for an incubator running a six-month cohort of ten startups, with two programme managers and a pool of volunteer mentors.

  1. Set up the programme. A programme manager creates the programme, picks its track (idea stage, launchpad, growth or a sector track such as healthcare or climate), adds the funders and moves it from draft to open.
  2. Open a cohort. Each cohort has a batch name, dates and a target number of seats, and moves from applications open to selection to active. A person confirms admitting each startup.
  3. Add the startups. Each startup is recorded with its stage (idea, MVP, revenue or scaling), the grant committed and any equity held. Milestones such as MVP, first revenue, funding or hiring are set with due dates.
  4. Collect numbers every period. Startups report revenue, headcount, funds raised, monthly recurring revenue and runway. Kinnow lists who is late or has never reported and drafts the request; a person sends it.
  5. Watch the risk band. From falling revenue or runway, missed milestones and mentors who did not turn up, Kinnow proposes a green, amber or red band for each startup. The programme manager decides what to do about it.
  6. Match and book mentors. Kinnow ranks the cohort's mentors for each startup by the needs it has stated and each mentor's free time that week. It assigns no one. Founders book from the mentors' published office hours.
  7. Draft the funder report. Kinnow rolls up graduation rate, funds raised, jobs created and startups at risk into a draft. You review it, approve it and send it. Nothing reaches a funder before then.

What you see on screen

Incubate has five screens, plus a page for its agents and a set of reports.

WhereWhat you see
OverviewTiles for active startups, how many are flagged red or amber, and grant deployed, with a 'needs attention' list, red first. An empty list means nothing is slipping, not that the page failed to load.
PortfolioEvery startup across all cohorts, with its risk band, stage and grant. You can filter to red or amber to see who needs help this week.
ProgramsEach programme with its track, sector and status (draft, open, running, closed).
MentoringWhat needs a person: sessions that did not happen, bookings stalled for more than two days with who is being waited on, and mentors nobody has booked.
MentorsEach mentor's office hours, whether bookings are confirmed straight away or wait for the mentor, and how many sessions they carry.
Funder reportsOne row per report with status (draft, review, approved, sent), whether an agent or a person drafted it, and how many measures it rolled up.
