Share of Model
What is Share of Model? How often AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Claude or Perplexity mention your brand when someone asks about your category.
In plain words
Some buyers now ask an AI assistant, "Which CA firm in Pune handles GST for manufacturers?", before they search or phone anyone. Share of Model counts how often your name appears in those answers, out of a fixed set of questions you track. It is a count of mentions, not a position in a list of links.
Example
A Pune CA firm lists 20 questions a prospect might ask. Each month it asks every question to the assistants it cares about. In March its name appears in 6 of the 20 answers, a 30% share. After it publishes a clear page on GST work for manufacturers, April shows 9 of 20, a 45% share. The numbers are made up. Assistants can word an answer differently each time, so read the figure as a trend, not an exact score.
Why it matters
- Cost. Content effort goes to the questions buyers actually ask, not to guesses.
- Risk. An assistant may leave you out, or describe you wrongly, and your website visit count will not show it.
- Timing. You can see whether a change to your pages moved the count, month on month.
How Kinnow handles it
In Marketing campaigns (Reach), the AI-Visibility / GEO agent tracks how often AI answer engines mention your brand and suggests content changes. A person approves before anything is posted. Kinnow marks its figures as directional estimates from third-party AI engines, not guaranteed placements. Visits that arrive from AI search are recorded as their own source, next to email, search and direct visits.
The limit: Kinnow suggests, and the assistants decide. This agent is set up and checked with each client. See also Get named when buyers ask AI and GEO.

Questions
Is Share of Model the same as search ranking?
No. Search ranking is the position of a link in a list. Share of Model counts mentions inside a written answer, and that answer can change from one asking to the next.
Can anyone guarantee that an assistant will name my business?
No. The assistants decide for themselves. What helps is clear, accurate and current information about you in places they read. Kinnow's figures are estimates, not guaranteed placements.
How many questions should I track?
A small, steady set that you can compare month on month, for example 15 to 20 questions real buyers ask, is a sensible start. A long list is harder to act on.
