Short answer

What is System of Engagement? How a business reaches its market and talks to its own people. In Kinnow: Reach (going out to customers), Serve (requests coming in) and Zest (conversations).

In plain words

"System of engagement" is a software term for the tools people use to talk and work with customers and with each other, as opposed to the "system of record", where the official numbers are kept. On Kinnow it means three things: marketing that goes out (Reach), requests that come in (Serve) and the conversations in between (Zest).

Example

A Coimbatore distributor ships 200 units against invoice INV-2026-0418, but the customer says only 180 arrived. Today the argument runs across a mail, a phone call and a WhatsApp group, and the outcome sits in one person's memory. On Kinnow the discussion is held on the invoice itself and ends with a recorded decision, for example "credit note for 20 units". If the customer goes quiet, the invoice shows how many days it has been waiting for a reply.

Why it matters

  • Time. "Did we ever hear back from the steel supplier?" should not take four people half an hour in a group chat.
  • Follow-up. A quote or signature that nobody chases simply lapses; silence needs a clock on it.
  • Risk. Decisions kept in memory leave with the person who made them.

How Kinnow handles it

Reach is marketing to the customers already in your books, with consent checks before anything goes out. Serve handles support tickets, field jobs and service contracts, with the customer's history in view. Zest holds the messages, mail, meetings and site visits, each on the record it is about. The Day lists what is coming, what arrived and what has gone quiet.

The limits: The Day does not see phone calls today, and Kinnow cannot yet take notes in meetings with people outside your company. More in See what's coming, arrived, and gone quiet.

Questions

Does Kinnow replace WhatsApp or the phone?

No. Your team can keep talking to customers where they prefer. What changes is that the outcome is written on the invoice, order or customer it concerns. The Day does not see phone calls today.

What is the difference between Reach, Serve and Zest?

Marketing campaigns (Reach) goes out to customers (campaigns, with consent checks). Serve takes requests in (tickets, field jobs, service contracts). Conversations (Zest) carries the conversations, mail, meetings and visits, and ties them to the record.

How is this different from a system of record?

A system of record keeps the official numbers and documents. A system of engagement is where people talk about them. Kinnow joins the two, so the talk is attached to the record.
