Short answer

What does Control Posture board + signed Posture Statement do? Auditors get evidence instead of screenshots, and the screen tells you when a setting cannot yet be enforced.

How it works

Every action you can control, such as reversing a journal, releasing a payment or reopening a closed period, appears as a dial. Saving a dial applies the control straight away; if it can't yet, for example because no approver is set up, the screen says so. The statement shows who set each dial, taken from the audit trail, and carries a digital signature.

The detail that makes it real

If the statement can't be signed, it is still issued, clearly marked unsigned with the reason. It never claims a signature it lacks.

Step by step

Here is how a finance head or CFO sets the controls and then answers an auditor.

  1. Open the Control posture screen. Every accounting action your finance team can take is listed with its platform minimum, your current setting and what actually carries the setting out: a rule, a validation check, or the way the approval steps are built.
  2. Choose a setting for each. The four settings are Blocked, Needs approval, Allowed but warned, and Allowed and audited. You can match the platform minimum or go stricter, never looser. The loosest setting still records the action.
  3. Save, and it applies straight away. Saving stores and applies the change in one step. If a setting cannot take effect, for example because it needs approval and no approver is set up, the screen says so under that action.
  4. Start from a preset if you like. Two starting positions, Starter and Standard, are offered. When you bring data from an old system, Kinnow can propose a starting position from the approval habits it finds there. It is a proposal; a person approves it.
  5. Export the Control posture statement. It lists every control, its platform minimum, its effective setting, who set it and when, taken from the audit trail. It carries a digital signature.
  6. Hand it to the auditor. The statement also has a separate section listing the controls it cannot vouch for, each with a reason, so a short list is never mistaken for a clean one.

Anyone signed in can view the board, but saving needs the settings permission. Every save is written to the audit trail with the person's name, which is where the statement gets "who set it".

What does "unsigned" on a statement mean?

It means the signature could not be produced at that moment. The content is the same and carries a digest to show whether it was changed, and the statement says why it is unsigned.
