Spoiled stock stopped before it ships

A temperature breach blocks the affected batch automatically, and any batch can be traced to suppliers and customers.

Live in part
Short answer

What does Cold Chain Watchdog + lot traceability do? Pharma, food and chemical distributors keep bad stock from customers and answer recall questions in minutes.

How it works

When your sensor provider reports a temperature breach, Kinnow matches it to the stock batch, puts the batch on hold and tells sales, so it cannot be sold. When an administrator starts the expiry sweep, stock past its expiry date moves out of active stock, and picking can take the earliest-expiring stock first. Batch tracing follows stock forward to customers and back to suppliers.

The detail that makes it real

A batch goes on hold as soon as a breach is reported, with a full record of what happened, and your existing sensor provider stays in place.

Step by step

Here is a night for a pharma distributor with a cold room, a freezer and an ambient store, using a sensor provider it already has.

  1. The sensor provider sends a reading. Your existing sensor system sends each temperature reading with the zone it came from. Kinnow does not read the sensors itself.
  2. Kinnow classifies it. The reading is compared with the zone's target. Inside the allowed band it is normal. Outside the band for less than the allowed time it is a warning. Outside the band for longer is a breach. By default the band is 0.5 degrees C for 10 minutes in a cold room, 1 degree for 5 minutes in a freezer and 2 degrees for 30 minutes in an ambient store.
  3. A breach puts stock on hold. Every active batch in that warehouse for the affected items moves to quarantine in one step, with the reason and a summary of the breach recorded. Sales is told, and the batch cannot be sold.
  4. Quality control reviews. A person in quality looks at the held batch. They either release it back to normal stock or send it to a spoilage write-off, which is backed by a photo.
  5. Expiry is swept when it is started. When an administrator starts the expiry sweep, stock past its expiry date moves out of active stock. Picking can be set to take the earliest-expiring batch first.
  6. If a recall comes, trace the batch. Type the batch number and see the supplier, purchase order and goods receipt it came in on, then every dispatch and return and the customers it reached.

Ask us to load one of your batches and run a trace forwards and backwards.

What you see on screen

Three screens in Stock and Ship show this work.

WhereWhat you see
Quarantine screenEvery held batch with its card number, item, batch number, warehouse and expiry date, shown in red if already passed. A batch stays here until released or written off. Nothing held shows as an empty list.
Traceability reportType a batch or lot number. Where it came from lists each receipt with supplier, purchase order and goods receipt. Who received it lists each dispatch and return and the customers.
Stock ageingAge bands with item count and stock value, and a total row, so slow stock is visible before it expires.
