ERP for capital goods. Sell the machine, then earn on the AMC for a decade.
Sell the machine, then earn on the service contract for a decade, with every serial, warranty and renewal on one record.
From December 2026How does Kinnow help a capital-goods company? The machine you ship becomes a record you service for years: its serial, its warranty, its service contract and its tickets sit together, so every call knows what the customer is entitled to and every renewal is chased before it lapses. Nothing is filed, paid or posted without a person.
Singapore edition, from December 2026. Nothing on this page is live in Singapore today. The ready-made setup for Capital Goods (we call it an industry pack) is already built into the product. We apply it with you when the edition opens.
Your business in one paragraph
You sell a machine once and service it for a decade. The sale is a long quote, a large invoice and a delivery to site, often of equipment you import; the margin is in what follows: the service contract (the AMC), the spares, the callouts. The risk is that the list of machines you have installed lives in a spreadsheet, the warranty with the manufacturer lives in a file, and the engineer leaves without the part. Three things keep the owner awake.
Renewals missed in silence
A service contract that lapses is a customer who stopped being a customer without anyone deciding it.
Warranty cost absorbed
A breakdown fixed at your cost on a machine the manufacturer still covers is a claim nobody filed.
Repeat visits
An engineer sent without the right part, or to a customer who is out of cover, is a callout that earns nothing.
Bring your installed-base spreadsheet and see which renewals are due in the next 90 days.
How your month runs on Kinnow
This is the enquiry-to-service-contract loop, then the service loop that earns on it.
| # | Step | Who | Application | Where a person signs |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Enquiry enters the pipeline; a configured quotation is drafted | Sales engineer | Sell | Quotation approved before it goes out |
| 2 | Order won; credit check can hold it; large orders go for approval | Sales head, credit controller | Sell | Order and credit above your limits need approval |
| 3 | Long-lead parts and the machine bought against the build plan | Procurement officer | Buy | Purchase order above your limit needs approval |
| 4 | Landed cost of imported items is added to stock value | Accounts executive | Buy, Account | Journal above your limit needs approval |
| 5 | Machine dispatched; each serial registers in the installed base for the customer | Dispatch clerk | Stock & Ship, Serve | Warranty end date entered by a person |
| 6 | Service contract created and tracked: draft, active, expiring, renewed or expired | Service manager | Serve, Pact | Contract terms confirmed by a person |
| 7 | A ticket opens with an SLA plan (the response and fix times you promise a customer); Kinnow checks what the customer is entitled to: warranty, contract, chargeable or unknown | Service desk | Serve | A ticket cannot be raised without an SLA plan |
| 8 | Engineer and parts suggested; visit scheduled, en route, on site, completed | Service coordinator, engineer | Serve, Field | Coordinator accepts the suggestion |
| 9 | Visit completes with parts, labour and a billable flag; spares come off stock; a billable job posts to receivables, with GST priced per line | Engineer, accounts | Serve, Account | Billing reviewed by accounts |
| 10 | Renewal conversation opens at 60, 30 and 7 days before the contract ends; warranty claims and calibration due dates are chased | Sales manager, service manager | Serve, Maintain | Renewal terms signed by a person |
What the industry setup puts in place
The Capital Goods setup is built into the product: 6 safeguards, 4 sign-off routes, 9 report codes, 11 Ask Kinnow starters, 10 agents and 20 step-by-step routines. The figures are starting values you change, set in Singapore dollars with you in the first week.
| Limit | Effect | Why it is there |
|---|---|---|
| Customer credit limit over your limit | Needs approval | One order is one large invoice, not a stream of small ones |
| Sales order over your limit | Needs approval | One unit can be a quarter's revenue, with a commissioning and warranty commitment |
| Purchase order over your limit | Needs approval | Stock is a machine, not a reorderable consumable |
| Journal over your limit | Needs approval | Import landed cost lands as a journal, not an invoice |
| Service ticket with no SLA plan | Blocked | No plan means no clock, so it can never breach |
| Non-billable service work order | Warning | Service effort never billed erodes margin without showing as a loss |
Ready-made routines include Enquiry to AMC, Buying long-lead parts, Site visit to sign-off, Customer return to credit, Stock transfer between warehouses and Invoice correction by credit note.
Agents for capital goods
AMC Renewal
Prepares a renewal suggestion for each of your AMC (annual maintenance contract) customers, using the same renewal routine as lease renewals.
Contract Renewal Watch
Warns at 60, 30 and 7 days before a contract ends and marks each stage as sent so the reminder does not repeat every morning.
Warranty recovery
Lists breakdowns fixed at your cost on assets a manufacturer still covers. It reports candidates and drafts nothing; a person reads the terms.
Job Dispatcher
Suggests the best engineer for a ticket from skills, zone and current load.
Technician Scheduler
Proposes a balanced assignment of unassigned visits across available engineers.
Parts Recommender
Suggests likely spares for a visit from its job type and the machine being serviced.
SLA Alert
Flags tickets at risk of breaching their response or resolution time.
Quote Writer
Drafts a quotation or sales order from an enquiry written in everyday words, or from a customer's purchase order (PO) document.
Every agent is validated with each client before it works on their books, and every output waits for a person. Also available: a calibration watch in Maintain, which separates instruments overdue from those due soon and counts only the latest certificate.

Statutory and compliance calendar for a capital-goods company (Singapore)
Kinnow prepares; a person confirms and files. Dates are not printed here because the authorities set and change them.
| Obligation | What Kinnow prepares | What stays with you |
|---|---|---|
| GST F5 return (quarterly) | Boxes 1 to 8 of the F5 (the quarterly GST return) for the quarter, from the sales invoices, credit notes and purchase bills in your books; a credit note reverses its line. Kinnow prices each line at 9 per cent, zero-rates a customer outside Singapore and carries a short exempt list. The calendar puts each return one month after its quarter ends, from the accounting cycle IRAS (Singapore's tax authority) gave you; it refuses to guess the cycle. | A person reviews every box and files through the IRAS portal with their own CorpPass (the government login for businesses) login. Kinnow does not submit it. A Singapore adviser checks the box layout against the current IRAS form before the first filing. |
| Tax invoices | The Singapore country setup holds the checks for a tax invoice: a valid GST registration number or UEN (company registration number), date, serial number, the GST amount, and the words Tax Invoice on a full tax invoice (a simplified invoice is allowed up to S$1,000 including GST). A reverse-charge supply that also charges GST is refused. | The finance lead decides which invoices are simplified and which supplies are reverse-charge. |
| InvoiceNow (e-invoicing) | An invoice to another business is marked to go through InvoiceNow, Singapore's national e-invoicing network. Kinnow builds the invoice file in the Peppol format that InvoiceNow uses, addressed by UEN (the company registration number), and refuses one with no supplier UEN. It runs against a test connection only: nothing reaches the network. | Connecting a certified access point (an approved sender on the InvoiceNow network) is a commercial step with a provider. Once delivered, an invoice cannot be cancelled; a credit note corrects it. |
| CPF and the Skills Development Levy (monthly) | Payroll works out CPF (the Central Provident Fund contributions) by age band, on the ordinary-wage ceiling, and the employer's Skills Development Levy, on each payslip. It needs a recorded date of birth and citizen or permanent-resident status, and lists anyone it had to skip. It withholds no income tax: Singapore has no PAYE for citizens and permanent residents. | Payment and submission to the CPF Board happen outside Kinnow. IR8A, IR8S, Appendix 8A (the yearly employee pay statements) and the monthly CPF submission are named in the Singapore setup as filings; Kinnow does not prepare or submit them. |
| ACRA annual return, AGM, estimated chargeable income, corporate tax return | Tracked as registrations on your company, each with the due date Kinnow works out and a lead time before it. The AGM and the annual return are two items, because they run on two clocks. | The company secretary and finance head confirm every date against ACRA (the company registrar) and IRAS, and file. |
| Import documentation cost | Landed-cost vouchers add freight, duty and clearing cost to the stock value. GST paid on an import that is recorded as an import is counted in the F5's purchase and input-tax boxes. | Customs declarations and import permits are made outside Kinnow. |
| Calibration certificates for instruments in your asset register | A due queue from the latest certificate per asset; a deviation outside tolerance is stored as failed. | The service manager owns the certificates. |
What the owner sees
Questions that come with the setup, typed into Ask Kinnow. Each answer shows its source and what it will cost before it runs. Veil, our privacy layer, holds back bank, tax and ID numbers and swaps names for placeholders before an AI call. It covers Ask Kinnow and most agents today; the rest are being added.

Questions
Does an equipment sale create the service contract automatically?
Not on its own. When a serialised machine is dispatched, each serial is registered in the installed base against the customer. The warranty end date is left for you to enter, because the dispatch does not carry the commercial term, and the contract is created by a person. Once it is active, renewals are watched from the end date.
What does the installed base do for a service call?
Every ticket resolves what the customer is entitled to: under warranty, under contract, chargeable, or unknown. Unknown is never billed. If a machine has no warranty date and no contract, the answer asks for the date instead of issuing a verdict.
Can Kinnow recover warranty costs from manufacturers?
It finds the candidates and tracks claims. A warranty register holds each manufacturer warranty, a claims record follows each claim from filing to settlement, and the Warranty recovery agent lists breakdowns fixed at your cost. It matches on dates; a person reads the warranty terms before a claim goes out.
Do engineers get a mobile app?
Dispatch, scheduling and visit capture run in the browser, and that works in the phone browser. There is no native app and no offline mode.
Can we bill service work?
A billable service work order posts a service-revenue receivable to the ledger when it is completed. Service effort recorded as non-billable raises a warning, so unbilled work does not quietly eat margin.
Who approves a large order?
The setup asks for approval on a large sales order, customer credit limit and purchase order. These are starting values you set in Singapore dollars.
How long to set up?
About two weeks to first results for one company, counted from when your Singapore edition is switched on in December 2026: masters and opening balances in the first week, agents switched on and a first close in the second. Your installed base is imported in the first week so renewals are watched from day one.
