Bank lines that get a draft entry
Unmatched bank lines get a draft entry on the right account, chosen from your own history; AI handles only new payees.
LiveWhat does GL Categorizer do? Bank reconciliation gets faster each month as Kinnow learns your books, without AI posting anything unreviewed.
How it works
Kinnow learns which account each payee belongs to from your approved journals. Known payees are drafted by rule; only payees it has never seen go to AI. Each result is drafted as a balanced journal entry and waits in the approval list for a second person to review. Amounts outside the normal range are sent for review.
Your own history comes first; AI is only the fallback for payees your books have never seen.
Step by step
This is how a bank line that Kinnow could not tie to an existing entry becomes a draft entry, for an accounts team that reconciles the current account every week.
- Import the statement. The accounts executive imports the bank statement as a CSV file, or a bank connection brings the lines in.
- Matching comes first. Kinnow ties each line to an existing entry by amount, date and the UTR or cheque number in the narration. Those lines are not categorised again.
- Your history answers next. For a line with no entry, Kinnow cleans the narration (it drops words such as UPI or NEFT and reference numbers), then looks up which account that payee used in your approved journals.
- Only new payees go to AI. If your books have never seen the payee, an AI model suggests an account. On a single reconcile run this fallback covers at most the first 10 such lines.
- A draft entry is written. Either way, Kinnow drafts a balanced two-line journal and puts it in the approval list. An amount outside the usual range is sent for review rather than drafted.
- A second person approves. The journal cannot post until another person has approved it. The reviewer sees the account chosen and the two lines of the entry.

What you see on screen
You work from the Bank Reconciliation screen in Account.
- Bank Reconciliation: pick the bank account, see Current Balance, Last Reconciled and the Unreconciled count, and press Run AI Reconciliation.
- Import statement: upload a CSV for the account. The screen tells you how many statement lines were imported.
- Match: each open line can be matched by hand to an entry, and released again with Unmatch.
- The approval list: drafted journals wait here for the second person, with the debit and credit lines shown.
- Bank Reconciler card: a line such as 12 bank lines are still unmatched, and the basis used: amount, value date within 3 days, and UTR or cheque reference. Only confident matches are applied.

Questions
What is GL Categorizer in Kinnow?
Unmatched bank lines get a draft entry on the right account, chosen from your own history; AI handles only new payees.
What changes for the business?
Bank reconciliation gets faster each month as Kinnow learns your books, without AI posting anything unreviewed.
Is it available today?
Yes, it is live.
Does it post journals without anyone looking?
No. It drafts a balanced journal and places it in the approval list. A second person must approve it, and an amount outside the normal range is sent for review instead of drafted.
What if my bank narrations are messy?
Kinnow strips the transfer words and reference numbers, so NEFT-ACME CORP-N123 and POS ACME CORP are treated as the same payee. A payee it cannot place goes to the AI fallback or stays for you.
