ERP for group enterprise (multi-entity). Every entity in its own words, consolidated in one view.
Every entity in its own books and words, with intercompany matched and eliminated, so the group closes once and the promoter reads one set of numbers.
Configured with youHow does Kinnow help a group of companies? Each company is its own entity with its own books, chart of accounts, budgets and industry setup; sales between your companies are posted as matching pairs and checked at close; the entries that cancel them out post into a group consolidation entity; and the promoter asks one set of questions across the whole group. Group is set up with you, not installed as a ready-made industry setup. Nothing is filed, paid or posted without a person.
Your business in one paragraph
A promoter-led group usually grows by adding companies: a trading company, a manufacturer, a property arm, a services firm. Each has its own books, GST registration and software, and money moves between them on invoices, loans and shared costs. The month-end problem is that balances between the companies never tie, so consolidation is a week of cancelling them out in a spreadsheet, and the promoter sees group cash only afterwards. Auditors and shared-services teams need to see across companies without seeing everything. The owner is awake over the balance that is on one side only, the company running on its own software, and the cash nobody can see across the group.

How your month runs on Kinnow
Ten steps from structure to signed month. A person is behind everything that is posted, cancelled out or filed.
- The structure is set up. Your group has one account in Kinnow. Under it sit your companies (entities), then business lines and branches; every document carries its company. The controller sets this up in Admin with us.
- Each company gets its own industry setup. A distributor, a manufacturer and a property arm each use the setup for their sector. Limits and approval steps are created for each company, so one company's limits never overwrite another's.
- Each company runs its day. Sales, purchases, stock, payroll and compliance post to that company's own books in Account.
- A sale between two of your companies is posted as a pair. An accountant records the transaction between company A and company B. An entry lands in each set of books, linked by one record, and each line names the other company.
- Large group journals are approved. The extra group rules require a journal above ₹10,00,000 to be approved by the finance controller before it posts.
- The close checks the balances between your companies. Each company runs the twelve close checks. The intercompany balance check must pass: an unmatched half or a net difference blocks the close.
- Eliminations are run. The Intercompany Eliminator posts the cancelling entries for matched pairs into the group consolidation entity, and marks the pairs as eliminated. A pair can be undone with a written reason, after the consolidation period is reopened.
- Cash is read across the group. The Cash-flow Forecaster builds a rolling 30, 60 and 90-day view across your companies. The promoter asks Ask Kinnow about one company or all of them.
- The promoter gets a Monday digest. The Executive Digest sends the week in numbers, alerts, trends and unusual movements by email and WhatsApp.
- The month is signed. The controller signs each company. Only the controller can reopen a closed month, with a reason.
What we set up for a group
The figures are starting points set with you. What an entity approves is its own, and a change to who approves what is approved by an administrator.
| Area | How a group is set up |
|---|---|
| Structure | Group, company (entity), business line and branch, with a company required on every document. Each company has its own chart of accounts and its own budgets. |
| Industry setups | One for each company: the ready-made setup for its own sector, with its limits, sign-off routes, reports and Ask Kinnow starter questions. The extra group rules are available for companies in engineering and construction, distribution, manufacturing, real estate, professional services, IT services, capital goods and hospitality. |
| Extra group rules | One limit: a journal above ₹10,00,000 needs the finance controller. Reports: trial balance and account ledger. These rules change reporting and approvals and never add a routine. |
| Sales between your companies | Matching entries in both companies' books, a list of every such transaction, a check at close that must pass, and cancelling entries in a group consolidation entity. |
| Access | Roles limited to a company, business line or branch, and a view across all companies for group roles. |
| Your words | Group, entity, business line, branch and all, in place of organisation, company, division, location and cross-entity view. |
Processes
Each company switches on the Processes of its own sector, and the month-end close, access request to grant, workflow change to live and document to signed processes apply to every entity. Each one says who owns a step and what Kinnow insists on.
Agents for a group
We check each agent with you before it works on your books, and whatever it produces waits for a person.
Intercompany Eliminator
Posts the cancelling entries for matched pairs of sales between your companies into the group consolidation entity.
Cash-flow Forecaster
Builds a rolling cash forecast for the next 30, 60 and 90 days from post-dated cheques, bills due and how customers have paid in the past, with a range around each figure to show how sure it is.
KnowAnomaly Detector
Checks nine business figures for unusual movements whenever an administrator or your scheduler starts a scan, and lists them in the Anomaly Feed, most serious first.
AccountClose Checklist
Runs the twelve period-close checks, helps clear the ones holding up the close and drafts the commentary on variances. A person confirms the close.
VaultAsk Kinnow
Answers questions from your documents and from the records of the applications you use, and only shows what the person asking is allowed to see.
Executive Digest
Sends the week in numbers, alerts, trends and unusual movements each Monday.

Statutory and compliance calendar
| Obligation | What Kinnow prepares | What stays with you |
|---|---|---|
| GST returns, per entity | GSTR-1 file from that company's invoices for the portal; GSTR-3B prepared for review; purchase bills matched to GSTR-2B. The registration comes from each company's profile. | A person files each return. |
| TDS, per entity | Draft challans and returns from the deductions in that company's books. | A person pays and files. |
| Intercompany balance | A check at close that must pass; cancelling entries into the consolidation entity. | The controller reviews. |
| Month-end close, per entity | Twelve checks; seven must pass. | The controller signs. |
What the promoter sees
Every answer shows its source and cost before it runs, and Ask Kinnow answers only within what the person asking is allowed to see. Veil, our privacy layer, holds back bank, tax and ID numbers and swaps names for placeholders before an AI call. It covers Ask Kinnow and most agents today; the rest are being added.
| Question a promoter would type | What comes back |
|---|---|
| What is our cash position across the group? | Cash by entity and in total, with the 30, 60 and 90-day outlook. |
| Which entity's receivables are ageing worst? | Receivables ageing, entity by entity. |
| Do the intercompany balances tie? | Pairs matched, unmatched halves and net difference, company by company. |
| Which entity closed late this month? | Close status by entity. |
| What is the trial balance for the group? | The consolidated trial balance with eliminations. |
Numbers that matter
- Unmatched balances between your companies: amount and age.
- Cash by entity and the rolling forecast.
- Close status by entity.
- Budget against actual per entity.
- Unusual movements flagged across companies.
Controls an owner cares about
- A company is required. A document with no entity is refused, with a message asking you to choose one.
- A pair posts together. Both entries post in one step and each names the other company.
- Cancelled-out pairs are protected. Undoing one needs a written reason, and the consolidation period must be reopened first.
- Access follows your structure. A role sees only its own company, business line or branch.
- Only the controller reopens a closed month.

Questions
Is there a ready-made group enterprise setup?
No. Group is a layer of extra rules on top of the sector setups, not a ready-made setup of its own. Each company uses the setup for its own sector, and the extra rules add group-level control on top: an approval limit on journals that touch the group. Everything else about your group is set up with you in the first weeks.
Can a distributor and a manufacturer sit in one group?
Yes. Each company uses its own sector setup, with its own limits and its own words, and the extra group rules sit above them. Group reports use the same underlying accounts, so a total reads the same whichever company's words you use.
How do intercompany balances and eliminations work?
A sale between two of your companies is posted as a matching pair: an entry in the seller's books and one in the buyer's, linked together. At period close, an unmatched half or a net difference fails a check that must pass. The Intercompany Eliminator then posts cancelling entries into a group consolidation entity, so the consolidated profit and loss leaves out revenue and expense that would otherwise be counted twice.
Does Kinnow consolidate across currencies?
Not yet. Consolidating and cancelling out sales between companies that report in different currencies is not built, and parallel books under more than one accounting standard are not built either. Consolidation works for companies that report in one currency.
Can the auditor or a shared-services team see several entities?
Yes. Access is by role, limited to one company, a business line or branch within it, or all the companies the person is entitled to. A person with no access to a company sees nothing from it, and reopening a closed month is for the controller only.
Does each company file its own GST?
Each company has its own profile and registration, and returns are prepared from that company's invoices. A person files each return on the portal.
How do we go live?
One company at a time, alongside your current software until that company's month-end numbers tie. About two weeks to first results for the first company.
