How it works
Kinnow works out each employee's pay the same way the payslip does and applies the rule that wages must be at least half of total pay. It then lists who falls short, with the PF and gratuity cost of fixing each case. You can test a salary structure before you start using it. Kinnow suggests a basic-pay percentage; your team applies it.
Employees it cannot assess are listed as skipped with a reason, never quietly counted as compliant.
Step by step
- Make sure each employee has a cost to company. The check reads the employee record: the yearly cost to company (CTC) and the basic-pay percentage. Anyone without a CTC cannot be assessed and is listed as such.
- Open the Wage code check. It works out each person's pay structure the same way the payslip does, so the screen and the payslip cannot disagree. It then applies the rule that basic and similar pay must be at least half of total pay.
- Read who needs restructuring. The top of the screen shows how many people were assessed and how many need restructuring. A switch narrows the list to those who need changes.
- See what each fix costs. For every person who falls short, Kinnow shows the basic pay now, the wages under the code, the amount added back, the basic percentage it suggests, and the change to PF and to the gratuity base each month.
- Try a new structure before using it. When you build a new salary structure, the preview tells you whether it stands up to the codes before anyone is put on it.
- Your payroll team applies the change. Kinnow proposes a basic percentage. Nothing is applied until your team changes each employee's record. Confirm how your own pay components should be treated with your payroll adviser first.

What you see on screen
This is the Wage code check screen under People.
| Screen or button | What it shows or does |
|---|---|
| Assessed and Need restructuring | The two headline counts, with a switch for Only those needing changes. |
| Employer PF per month and Gratuity base per month | The extra monthly cost of complying across the people who need it. |
| Employee table | Columns for Employee, Basic now, Wages under the code, Added back, Basic should be, PF per month and Gratuity base. |
| Assessment detail | Opens for one person: monthly CTC, PF wage today and if restructured, employee and employer PF change, gratuity base change, and notes. |
| People who could not be assessed | A separate list with the reason for each. They are never counted as compliant. |
| Components not yet classified | A warning naming any pay components nobody has classified. Every figure ignores them, and the screen says the numbers are provisional until they are. |

Yes, it is live.
What exactly does Kinnow check?
For each employee it works out the pay structure, then tests whether basic and similar pay come to at least half of total pay. If not, it shows the amount that is added back and the basic percentage that would comply.
Does it change salaries?
No. It proposes a basic percentage and the cost of making the change. Your team applies it, one employee at a time, after your adviser agrees.
Why is the PF figure lower than I expected?
PF is calculated up to a monthly wage ceiling. Anyone whose basic is already above it sees no PF change from restructuring. The screen says how many people are in that position.
Can I test a new salary structure before using it?
Yes. When you create a structure, a preview resolves it against a CTC without saving and tells you whether it stands up to the codes.
