Short answer

What does Migration bridges & Transformer do? Switch with confidence: reports reflect when things really happened, and missing vouchers surface before your auditor finds them.

How it works

Every application comes with a way to bring data in. Kinnow keeps the original system's entry dates, never the import date. After each import, Kinnow checks for gaps or duplicates in document numbers and matches balances back to the ledger. It tells 'could not reach' apart from a real difference.

The detail that makes it real

A date that can't be read is left blank and counted, never replaced with the import date; each numbering series is checked separately.

  • Running an import again updates the records already brought across and does not create duplicates.

Step by step

  1. Agree what moves. With your finance team, list the registers you want across: accounts and ledgers, parties, items, vouchers, and so on. Pick your old system on the migration screen by name.
  2. Connect to the old system. For Tally Prime, Kinnow reads through Tally's own gateway, using a small connector that sits next to your Tally. It asks Tally for ledgers, stock items and vouchers, and reads changes by Tally's record number so a re-run only picks up what is new.
  3. Try it without touching your books. A trial run reads a sample and shows what would happen. Words in your old data that Kinnow does not understand, such as a voucher type or a unit, are listed under What these words mean. Until you say what each means, those records are turned away rather than guessed.
  4. Bring it across. Each voucher keeps its original date and voucher number. A date that cannot be read is left blank and counted, never replaced by the import date. Tally voucher types such as Sales, Purchase, Receipt and Payment come across with their own names.
  5. Read the result. What came across lists each register: how many are in the old system, how many are in Kinnow, how many were left for you to decide and how many were turned away. It says Totals match, or Cannot compare, for each.
  6. Settle what is left, then go live. Your accountant looks at the list under Left for you to decide, and at gaps or duplicates in each numbering series. Balances are matched back to the ledger. Only then does the team start posting in Kinnow.
