Short answer

What does Statement Bridge (As Seen On · Entered Since) do? Payment disputes with customers resolve in minutes instead of spreadsheet back-and-forth.

How it works

Enter the date of a customer's statement and the ageing report adds two columns: the balance as of that date, and what has been entered since. Together they always equal today's total. Customers fully paid since still appear. A matching view adds bill-by-bill detail, such as whether each is settled and what type of document it is.

The detail that makes it real

Balance on the statement date plus entries since always equals today's total, and customers paid in full since stay visible.

Step by step: settling a "your statement shows more than ours" call

  1. The customer sends their statement. It has a date on it, say 31 March. Their balance for you is different from yours.
  2. You open the receivables ageing report. Receivables are what customers owe you. The report can be opened for payables too, which are what you owe suppliers. Enter the date of the customer's statement.
  3. Two columns appear. "As Seen On" is your balance for that customer as it stood on the statement date. "Entered Since" is what has been entered in your books after that date. They sit just before "Total Outstanding".
  4. The three numbers add up. As Seen On plus Entered Since always equals today's total. If the customer's figure matches the As Seen On column, the difference is only timing: a receipt or invoice entered after their statement.
  5. Settled customers stay on the list. A customer who has paid everything since the statement still appears, with no open bills. Otherwise the largest movement, the whole amount they owed, would disappear from view.
  6. You answer the customer with facts. Read out the entries made since, and agree the remaining difference, if any, bill by bill.

Bring one difficult customer statement. We will reconcile it on your ledger in front of you.

What you see on screen

On the reportWhat it shows
Statement dateThe date you enter, which is the date on the customer's statement
As Seen OnThe balance as of that date
Entered SinceWhat was entered in the books after that date
Total OutstandingToday's total, equal to the two columns together
Bills openThe number of open bills per customer, which is 0 for someone who has paid in full since

The report applies to both receivables and payables ageing, and works customer by customer or supplier by supplier.

Who uses it

  • Accounts receivable executive: answers a customer's statement query on the phone.
  • Finance head: checks before a dispute becomes a credit note or a write-off.
  • Sales owner: knows whether a customer is really late or only out of step with the books.
  • Month-end: useful when many customers send statements at the same time.
