Reorder lists that count stock already ordered
Reorder suggestions subtract stock already on order, so buyers stop reordering what's on its way.
LiveWhat does On-order-aware reorder + demand forecast do? Less double-ordering and cash stuck in stock, with buyers who trust the reorder list again.
How it works
Kinnow tracks expected deliveries: an approved purchase order adds to them, goods received reduce them, and cancellations remove them. Reorder suggestions take this into account, along with weekly demand forecasts for each item and warehouse. Slow-moving stock is ranked with suggested ways to recover the cash. Everything is a suggestion; nothing is ordered automatically.
Before, an item stayed on the reorder list every day until its order arrived; now open orders are counted line by line.
Step by step: how the reorder list stays honest
- A purchase order is approved. Kinnow opens a line in an expected-inbound ledger for each item and warehouse on the order.
- Goods arrive. When a goods receipt is accepted, the matching line is drawn down by what was received. A part-delivery leaves the rest still on order. Receipts are matched on the item, since a receipt carries the item code and the order reference.
- An order is cancelled. The cancelled quantity is released from the ledger, so a real shortage is not hidden by an order that will never arrive.
- The reorder list nets it all. An item is listed only if stock on hand plus what is on order is below its reorder point. The list shows the quantity on order and a suggested order quantity, so a buyer can see that 500 are already coming, rather than the row simply vanishing.
- Demand forecasts feed the numbers. Each week Kinnow forecasts demand per active item and warehouse for the next 30, 60 and 90 days, using past dispatches. An item with fewer than three months of history is skipped and counted, not forecast from noise.
- The buyer decides. Everything is a suggestion. Nothing is ordered automatically.

What you see on screen
| Where | What you see |
|---|---|
| Needs reordering | "Items whose stock plus what's already on order falls below their computed reorder point", with columns for reorder point and On order |
| Demand forecast | Look up one item and warehouse for the 30, 60 and 90-day forecast, browse the planning portfolio, or check forecast accuracy against actual dispatch |
| Dead stock | Stock that has not moved for the number of days you set, with a suggested action: move to another warehouse, sell at a discount, return to supplier or write off. Each is marked as a suggestion only |
| Empty list | "Nothing needs reordering" says that every item is at or above its reorder point, accounting for what is already on order |
The dead-stock check runs weekly on Mondays and ranks slow-moving capital for review. It does not move, discount or write off anything.
Who uses it
- Buyer or purchase executive: works from the reorder list each morning.
- Warehouse or stores head: sees how much is still expected against each item.
- Finance head: uses the dead-stock list to see how much cash is sitting on shelves.
